INTRODUCING TORIRU - "KEEP YOUR WAVE ALIVE"

Introducing Toriru clothing, scrolling through Instagram I'm always discovering the coolest independent fashion brands that deserve way more recognition than they already get. I think it's so important for young creatives to be noticed and showcase their creativity and talents to the world. We see the birth of new fashion brands often, however for young designers the market is extremely tough and I really think it's time for young creatives to get noticed. Unless you know someone in industry or have a large following, it is really hard for you to get noticed these days, it does kind of suck. There's so much talent out there that deserves to be seen.

I recently came across Toriru clothing and first glance I loved what I saw, no hesitation I hit that follow button! I was feeling major Japanese vibes with their bold prints and striking colours. Intuiged about the brand, I came to find out the person behind it all is 22 year old Terrance Lindsey From Kansas City, find out more and check out the interview with the man himself!

VogueWonders: Who are you and what do you do?

Terry: My name is Terry, i’m 22 years old and i’m from Kansas City , MO and the CEO of Toriru clothing brand.

VogueWonders: ow did you start your brand Toriru , what was the inspiration behind it ?

Terry: When I was 18 I started off cutting jeans , tie dying shirts and sewing. When I was 19 I decided I wanted to start my own clothing brand but financially wise I couldn't start it but deep down I wanted bring a different style to my city. When I was 20 I was more inspired by the top urban clothing brands and that inspired me to fulfill my dream of having my own clothing brand.

VogueWonders: Why did you choose to start up a fashion brand?

Terry: Because it was always my dream to have my own clothing brand.

VogueWonders: why do you think it's important for young designers like yourself to build new brands like this?

Terry: Because I think every generation has its own style and it’s up to our generation to bring a new wave .

VogueWonders: How has social media worked for you ?

Terry: Social media really helped my brand out as far as reaching new cities and clients. As well as a couple of upcoming celebrities collabs and supporters.

VogueWonders: What do you want to change in the current fashion market?

Terry: want to change the look and also the feel of fashion. I want to bring something that’s dope , lit and different . Something the people will love.

VogueWonders: What makes Toriru different from other brands out there ?

Terry: My name alone is different from other brands , my style is different and not to many people do anti mays.

VogueWonders: How did you come up with the name Toriru?

Terry: he name Toriru is Trill in Japanese. A Lot of people in my city and on social media knew me as Trill so me and my homeboy Casper took the time to do research and discovered Toriou.

VogueWonders: Do you classify yourself as a fashion designer?

Terry: Yes and No . Yes because I can come up with my own twist and style of things when a client wants something different than I already released. No because I try to stick to the basic releases.

VogueWonders: Are there any fashion brands you would like to collaborate with ?

Terry: Yes , I actually have a couple collabs here in Kansas City with YungLife, Brwssaddicition and a few more. I do want to do multiple celebrity collabs with FOG ( Fear Of God) , OBEY , Thrasher and last but not least Supreme. Pretty much the clothing brands that motivate me and molded my brand into the brand it is today .

VogueWonders: Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years to come ?

Terry: see myself in the next 3 years worldwide and still doing what I love which is making my brand better each day.

VogueWonders: Is it any advice you’d give to young people right now trying to start a fashion brand?

Terry: You are your biggest supporter , if you don’t believe in yourself your brand won’t grow. Keep grinding and keep pushing until you get to the top .

I am Terry CEO of Toriru clothing brand and this concludes my interview with Vogue Wonders . And always remember keep your wave alive .

COSY FITS X DAYS BEFORE

Hey guys, I'm back on the blog. I've been away working on a few things and can't wait to show you some new content. To get things started for the first post of the year, I recently caught up with fashion designer Saxton Taylor, Who's recently launched his own brand Days Before. Check out my interview with him below!

VogueWonders: Who are you and what do you do?

Day Before: Hey I’m Saxton Taylor, I’m 21 years old and I’m a fashion designer from Kansas City MO

VogueWonders: When did you start getting into fashion?

Days Before: I wasn’t really into Fashion until my twin introduced me, I’ve been into it since early 2000’s. Fashion has always been there especially at High School. I got a few compliments, many people said to me back in High School that I was influential in school and fashion, it made me feel good with what I was doing and the brand.

VogueWonders: What Inspired you to start Days Before?

Days Before: Well, back in school I never knew what I wanted to do, but then one day someone came up to me and asked me “Don’t you want to start a brand?” So, I thought about it and I went to college the Art Institution of Hollywood, man I loved it there, people motivated me and it made me want to just carry on! I progressed from there onwards.

VogueWonders: So, when was the brand officially established and how did you come up with the name ‘Days Before’?

Days Before: I Officially started in 2015 but my first official release was mid-2016. The name is Days Before I came up with it when working on project in school. I was reading a booking and so many combinations of before and days kept coming up so I switched it and wrote ‘Days Before’ …Since then I just kept the name.

VogueWonders: Who are the main inspirations behind the brand?

Days Before: My main inspirations are people like Kanye West, Vivienne Westwood because they all represent a Rockstar in their modern eras. They all present something great, they’re just great…They keep me going that’s the kind of level I want to be at, I inspire people too.

VogueWonders: What’s the aim, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Days Before: To be an established fashion designer, to be something that is highly regarded as Balenciaga. I really want to push forward.

VogueWonders: How long has it taken you to get a product out at full confidence?

Days Before: I didn’t want to release a product until I had a full collection, I wanted to see how far I could get or see if people were really interested in what I was doing, it’s going to be more than one piece and more to choose from. I believe more attention will be bought to my brand.

VogueWonders: Are there any collaborations within the Fashion world you would like to see happen?

Days Before: After Supreme X Louis Vuitton, man that was historical. I’d like to see Dior and Gucci, bringing a street brand with a high end, ideas are endless. The Louis collaboration was amazing to me…Just how two worlds collide and create one piece, that was beyond real.

VogueWonders: Finally, for anyone out there starting a brand, what’s the best advice you can give?

Days Before: The best advice I believe is to never go with the first idea, my first idea for a silhouette was terrible, beyond terrible and I even had a friend say it. It was constructive criticism and he knew that I could do better. I went out and tried my best to create more. You want to make sure that everything you create is top of the line. My first idea was so terrible it made me want to be more successful, destroy all previous imagination to create new work.

Hey guys, I'm back! After taking a 2 month break out of blogging, I have a lot of things lined up, VogueWonders is changing! For the past few weeks I have been working on new ideas and changing the theme of this blog. I will slowly be moving to a fully menswear/unisex blog, also touching down on the music scene in which you can view by clicking on the 'discover' tab!

To start off this new venture, here's a collaboration with &BLANC, an independent Nottingham based brand.

&BLANC stock a range of fashion brands such as Alpha IndustriesÉtudesHan KjøbenhavnHappy SocksKarim MaherLibertine - Libertine, and Wood Wood.  In this collab I'm wearing a gorgeous Denim Jacket by Han Kjøbenhavn.

This is an absolute staple piece for your wardrobe, the details and quality on the jacket is amazing featuring a removable Velcro white 'V' detailing, branded button fasting, and not to mention the cut on this is perfect, fitting to your body shape.

I simply styled this with Dr Martens; Denim and Cherry Dr Martens is always a winner, such a good combo, I chose to layer this by wearing a white net vest top and an oversized a longline grey shirt from ZARA. This was completed with straight leg trousers also from ZARA.

Check out &BlANC over on Instagram @andblancfashion/ and their online store at https://andblancfashion.com/

If you’re around Nottingham, visiting the store is a must!

Who says girls can't wear suits?

Another blog post, another collaboration, I couldn't be more grateful!

The lovely team at Bright Light PR sent me the most gorgeous pair of Marco Tozzi shoes, these fit perfectly with any smart outfit. I have to say this has to be one of my favourite collaborations!

Marco Tozzi have just launched their AW16 collection and their new styles are a must have. With such a range to chose from, such as trainers, brogues, heels and more, they are the perfect shoe brand to get you geared up for the new season.

I chose to style the shoes by wearing a suit, featuring a blazer and shirt from ZARA, and men's cropped suit trousers from New Look. To accessorize I played it safe and simply wore a choker from Topshop and carried a man bag which is the perfect size to fit all your essentials when you're on the go!

You can check out Marco Tozzi’s collection at www.marcotozzi .com and follow their page on Instagram @marco_tozzi_official to keep up with any updates!

Thank you
